Cette jour, il a plue tout le jour. Donc, aujourd'hui, je dormis et lis et parle avec ma soeur, Kate.
(In very bad grammatically incorrect French)
The rain woke me up today, tapping on the window politely to get my attention. It was a grey afternoon--some days it feels like I'll have just gotten up and the sun has decided to go back down again. I've learned daylight is scarce now (as I re-learn this same fact every winter) and with literally 5 hours of daylight you have to make decisions. Chief among them being, do I want to sleep in another hour if it means I won't get ready in time to see some daylight?
Today, the answer was a safe, reassured "Non!" Kate and I spent all day inside reading, sleeping, talking, doing absolutely nothing life-changing but relishing the feeling of having no urgent appointments, no having to get ready for work, no finals to study for. Just sleep...and maybe some late breakfast. And listening to the rain come down softly all day, seeing the sky turn from grey to black, knowing we wouldn't have to go out into the cold dark weather--time spent so slowly and carefree seems almost scandelous, but I could get used to this.
